Dear @briannoronha If you can't update theme via admin dashboard, you can install and setup Envato plugin to update theme or download the latest version of the theme on ThemeForest download page and simply replace the old one via FTP or Cpanel.

Dear, i think the malware because you install plugin from resource unreliable, eg use some plugin premium shared or the malware from other site on your site. Please kindly check carefully your hosting.
Also, you can check user account and remove some user suspicious in all sites on your hosting.
After check carefully your site and database, please sure all resource use on your site is clearly.
Also, I don't know plugin to scan malware on wordpress site because i don't use it because it can cause website to slow.
