Hi CodeMaster,
On job's backend editing page, I am wondering about the difference between the "Closing date" and "Job's Expiration Date".
When posting job, the publish date of the job becomes job's available date and closing date is when it closes.
OK. Simple. Then I see the text below at "Closing date" section that says
"Set the Apply for Job expiry date. If left blank will automatically get the Job's Expiration Date"I then deliberately left it blank (like below) to see what happens. The result? well... nothing happened.
-------------------------------------------
*Publish date: Oct 2nd 2022.
*Expiration date: Oct 29th 2022.
*Closing date: blank
-------------------------------------------This setting above didn't automatically get Job's expiration date (Oct 29th 2022) and the job page still says publish date only "2022-10-2"
However, when I manually put Oct 29th 2022 into "Closing date" field, the job page will say the range "2022-10-2 - 2022-10-29".
This makes me wonder what the "Job's Expiration Date" means and does.
Also what "Set the Apply for Job expiry date. If left blank will automatically get the Job's Expiration Date" truly means? Is that a theme bug or it means something else?I appreciate if you could clarify this.
2 years, 1 month ago #1219370Also once this "Expiration date" is set,
You can only change the date but cannot remove it (to make it blank)Yet, I still don't know what this Expiration date does....
By the way, "Closing date" also cannot be removed (to make it blank) as well once it's entered.
Is it the right action?
Please help
2 years, 1 month ago #1219376FYI, even though some Job's expiration date have passed (and closing date is also passed), the status of the job is still active and is still displayed on the website.
Is it right action as well? I am very confused...
2 years, 1 month ago #1219393Hi.
Thank you for contacting us.
1. The closing date is the date for the Application button on the job. That means the date when the candidate can apply for the job.
2. The expiration date is the date for the job activates status to display on the job listing. If the date expired, the job status will change to expired.
If you still have confuse, please let us know again.
Thanks.
2 years, 1 month ago #1219394Thanks for your reply and clarificaiton about what job expiration means.
Ok but what about my questions regarding
Once "Expiration date" is set, You can only change the date but cannot remove it
And likewise once "Closing date" is set, it cannot be removed.
Aren't they incorrect actions?
And now please also answer to my other question.
The theme option says.
"Set the Apply for Job expiry date. If left blank will automatically get the Job's Expiration Date"I deliberately left it blank (like below) to see what happened. Nothing happened as a result.
-------------------------------------------
*Publish date: Oct 2nd 2022.
*Expiration date: Oct 29th 2022.
*Closing date: blank
-------------------------------------------This setting above didn't automatically get Job's expiration date (Oct 29th 2022) and the job page still says publish date only "2022-10-2" Not closing.
Could you test this action on your end?
2 years, 1 month ago #1219408Hi again.
For the Expiration date and closing date, you can only change the date, it can't remove.
I have checked and helped you display the closing date info if you left it blank.
Please recheck it.
Thanks.
2 years ago #1219503Hi
I am still struggling with this...My job publish date is 2022-10-10
And closing date is 2022-10-29
With expire date set 2022-10-30
Today is 2022-11-03 It is still displayed. How does it disappear from the job search view?
It is like both closing date, expiration date of the job doesn't do anything.

I have checked your site.
The issue is from the option at the customize/ Job & Company/ Job List/ Show expired job config. https://prnt.sc/zeUC1svG0Fg9
After turn off that config, you will not see the expired job at the front end.
When you edit the job expired date to check the expired status, please go to Tools/ Cron Manager/ and execute the action "noo_job_check_expired_jobs", which will change the job status to expire. Or you can wait once an hour, and the action will auto-run. https://prnt.sc/DJrHPoJ3KtCL
Please check it again.
Thanks.

However, when you execute "noo_job_check_expired_jobs" action, the status goes back to "expired".
IMO this is not right because the (expiration) date is set in the future 11/17 and today is 11/7, it cannot be expired.
Please explain....

I understood now about job expiration and closing / expire / active status finally.
Previously I was ignoring the job expiring date because I didn't get the need of it.
So I was trying not to use it by setting the duration to 0 or 1. Something small...However, I realized I must always use job expiry date in order to use your theme correctly. Now I put 365 duration.
Now I understand the system. Thanks for your patience. I will close the ticket.
P.S.
I still need to solve the closing date issue on other thread.
