Is there a way how to bulk import a big list of locations/sub-locations ? XML, SQL or WP interface...
I tried to figure out the relationships in the database but I could not see anything and I don't wanna mess it up.
Thanks for your help.4 years, 9 months ago #1893
There's no bulk import function on this theme. If you know about PHP and WordPress coding, you can try to create it your self using WP function. You will need to create:
- Function for read the file ( xml or csv )
- Loop through the data from the file and use WP function to insert to DB: wp_insert_term the taxonomy for location/sub-location is: property_location and property_sub_location.

I have no clue how WordPress works. Is there any tools or anything that can help me make this happen ?

I think you can try this approach, it won't require coding:
Install an import/export CSV plugin ( CSV has more simple format than XML ). You then can use that plugin to know you the format required for CSV file. Then you just have to create a CSV file with that format and import to your site.

According to WordPress definition, taxonomy is used to group stuff.. When you say that none of the plugings allowed to import taxonomies, what's the impact ?4 years, 9 months ago #1939
I mean that it doesn't allow you to import taxonomies separately, it can only import taxonomies along with Post or Custom Post Type like Properties.
Our Property Location/Sub Location, Status, Label and Type are all taxonomy, so because you only want to import Location/Sub Location, I think those plugins are not suit for you, maybe other plugin will allow it.4 years, 9 months ago #1940
I was gonna ask you the same question about properties bulk import too. So you think that a csv import would work without any problem if I wanna import properties?4 years, 9 months ago #1941
I've not actually tried it but I think it will work without problem. You only have to make sure the format is corrected. Some plugins like the 2 I gave you can help you matching the columns on your CSV with the fields of Property.
